Father's Day Saturday - 2010

We met Matthew and Aimee at the Outback in Gaffney for our Father's Day gathering. They will go to church with her family and then have dinner with them. So we get them on Saturday. We had an excellent meal and lots of good conversation.
This is Mom and Dad and Son. We have come a long way in the last 27 years. We thank the Good Lord for this boy and what a fine man he has become.
Now this includes pretty little Aimee. I think Matthew knew he would marry her one day when he first met her 6 years ago. They have been married 9 months.
Here is Mom and Dad - looking into the hot afternoon sun just about blinded you.
The young ones standing in front of their "new" car. It is a 2000 but has only 62000 miles on it and was a one owner car. It even smells new.
Matthew is so proud of the car. He did have a Scion but he out grew it. Aimee didn't like it anyway.
Matthew and Aimee live in Rock Hill. So meeting in Gaffney is about half way for each of us.
This way we don't have such a long distance to travel. We get together about once a month. Matthew and Will's business is still in start up mode. They are working hard. Just need to get at least one big contract. But then, don't all business need it. Life is good and God is great.

Jacksonville Trip - June 2010

We started our Jacksonville trip by having dinner with Todd and Morgan. Todd is my oldest brother Eddie's son. Morgan is his girl friend and back door neighbor. Todd moved to Jacksonville about 3 years ago and met Morgan about 1.5 years ago. He loves Jax. We know why. We had a super time with them.
This is the Jeff Slate family with Jan. There is mother(Teresa), three daughters, and Jeff. We were on our way to eat wings.
The young grands and the old grands!!
The three pretty grands. Kyndle is 13, Cameron is 15, and Courtney is 22.
The girls with Grandma Jan. This was our first trip to Jax in 2010. Grayson managed to play golf once. The temperature was only 99F.
Here is the beauty in the family - glad to be with son Jeff.
Mom and son together. They both need more time together. I don't know what Jan was saying. It looks like it may have been a little tart!

Our 32nd Anniversary Celebration - June 3, 2010

On Thursday night, our 32nd anniversary, we dressed up and went out to dinner. We had a wonderful meal with a nice glass of wine. Jan was beautiful as usual.
She let me come along with her. We talked about our wedding night and the dinner we had in Charlotte. The waiter gave us a nice wine bottle opener as a wedding gift. I think we still have it. The next morning we left for Canada so I could go to work. We had four great years in Canada.
On Thursday morning we took a picnic lunch to Lake Lure. We went to the park at the marina. There were not very many people there so we claimed the gazebo. We watched the boats coming and going, read our books and had a nice picnic lunch.
This picture looks out at the swimming beach at Lake Lure It is a super place to bring kids. The lake and the mountains make the place very peaceful.
This visitor was just checking us out. We had no food for him so he just drifted away.
This is Jan with her book. We spent lots of time dissecting our 32 years of marriage. We have been blessed in a thousand ways.
Another picture of the gazebo and Jan.
Another picture of the Lake with the Lake Lure Inn in the background.
This is Wednesday at our "Mountain Retreat" in Hendersonville. It rained "cats and dogs." But we got lucky on Thursday with a sunny and cool day.
Another picture of the pond from our deck. We hoped to go to 'Music on Main" on Friday night but that didn't start until the next Friday. I did get to play golf on Friday and then we went shopping in the afternoon. Overall, number 32 was a great celebration.
