Our mid west trip started on September 19 and ended on October 3, 2013. We had a great time. The primary purpose was to attend Jan's 55th High School Class Reunion. And we added trips to three presidential museums, and a trip to see the Crystal Bridges Art Museum in Bentonville, AR. We also visited friends and family on the way.
We included a trip to the St Louis Art and History Museums. These are located in a beautiful park in St Louis.
The reunion gathering took place in a winery outside of St Louis.Jan remembered most of her classmates. I thought that she was the prettiest and youngest looking of the group.
The winery had a large restaurant associated with it. The setting was beautiful.
One of many class photos. There were about 50 classmates and 35 spouses there.
A whole bunch of girls - actually, grandmothers.
These photos were taken at the Eisenhower Museum in Abilene, KS. We met these folks at the Bed and Breakfast we both stayed at. They are from Lincoln, Nebraska. On our next trip we hope to visit with them.
This was taken at the reunion.
We are standing in front of the Lincoln Tomb. The Lincoln Museum was outstanding.
Here we are in front of the Truman home. Independence , MO is a great small town.
This is where Harry lived.
Here we are with our good friend Harry!
These are Harry and Bess Truman's graves.
This is the home of Jan's college classmate Laura Fleetwood in Bella Vista, AR. We stayed with them for two nights and had a great time. They took us to the Crystal Bridges Art Museum.
Laura is a retired Presbyterian minister. She preached on Sunday at one of her previous churches and we heard her preach. She and Dave are first class friends.
On our way through Nashville, we stopped long enough to have lunch with our nephew Kevin and his fiance Rebekah. They will marry in November.
Since we had not seen Stella for 3 weeks, we met with her at our Hendersonville place on Saturday after our return. Her mom and dad were also there.
Granddaddy got caught up on all her hugs and kisses.
