Fourth of July Brevard, NC Celebration - 2011

Here we are in Brevard at the Fourth of July Celebration. There are about 300 classic cars on display. We picked a nice Ford pickup to stand in front of.
We were trying to get a waitress's attention. The place was crowded. Eddie Mack and Joyce were in fine feathers.

They choose the Ford car.

Jan liked the flames on this one.

Another look at one of the cars. The next five pictures show what a large crowd was in Brevard for the fourth!

We had a great time in Brevard!!

Worship and Music Conference July 2011

Our cottage at Montreat. It was 218 Tennessee - Halfway Home.
The back side of the house.

This is the communion table with one of the large banners in the background.

The theme of this year's Worship and Music conference was " One In Christ, A Vision of Unity". This is a close up of the communion table on Friday. Each day the focus on the table was changed to reflect the theme of the pastor's sermon.

This is wonderful Annie Roper.

And here is Mrs March Moody.

At the lunch table - March, Annie and Debrorah.

And here are Alex, Taylor and John.

And at the end of the table are John, Merri(Sandra's daughter), and Sandra.

Taylor's and Debrorah's reaction when I asked them to wash the dishes!!!

Jane needed some attention. She was missing Frank.

Arts X Society Progressive Dinner

On June 23, 2011 we gathered at the Chapman Cultural Center for the Arts X Society Progressive Dinner. We started in the Science Center with drinks and snacks. We had been invited by Paige and Trey Rousey. We met a few snakes. We then went to the dance center. The director talked about all the programs that the center offered. There were lots more wine and goodies to snack on. We then went to the stage of the auditorium for dinner. Jan and I had the fried chicken breast with grits. The meal was outstanding. From there we went to the History Museum. It is an excellent museum. From there we journeyed to the Art Museum. Coffee and dessert and several artist were there. At 930pm the old folks called it a night and left it to the young ones. It was a wonderful evening.
Paige and Trey had invited us to join them for the dinner.

Grayson could not figure out how to rotate the picture. Jan's first husband is a lot bigger than Grayson.

Please note that the tie is the same color as the snake!!!!

Katherine and Bert had returned from their 4 week vacation trip at 500pm and were at the Chapman Cultural Center at 630pm. They were a little tired.

These six young ladies performed for us as a part of the entertainment.

Anniversary #33 - June 3, 2011

We celebrated our 33rd anniversary with a weekend trip to Highlands, NC on June 3. Again, I left the camera at home. We stayed at the Mountain Top Lodge on Main Street. We could walk to all the shops. We did some Christmas shopping. We actually bought 8 gifts. We had lunch at a nice deli. We then read our books, sitting outside, looking at the mountains. We had wine & cheese at 400pm. Then we listened to a folk singer downtown for about 1.5 hours. Dinner was at The Bistro. Had a great meal. On Saturday we went riding and saw 3 water falls. We also toured a new art gallery, The Bascom, the Nature Center, and the Botanical Gardens. After lunch, we shopped and then finished the afternoon reading. We managed to eat three ice gream cones over the weekend. We left for home on Sunday morning. Last year we went to Savannah. In the past we have also gone to Chattanoga and Banner Elk to celebrate our anniversary. Life is good.
