Visit With Glen and Margaret - July 2010

We visited with Margaret and Glen at the Wyndham Resort at Lake Lure. I got lost on my way there but it enabled us to see more of the country side. We talked and talked like old friends do. We first met them when we lived in Salisbury, NC. We got there after church on Sunday July 25. Had a super meal and spent the night with them. Left early on Monday morning.
The young lady is their 14 year old granddaughter Aaron. She helped prepare dinner and cleaned up the kitchen like a pro. The rest of her family were due on Tuesday. We had a wonderful though a short visit this time.

They also came down to go to the memorial service for Trey and Paige's little Lilli. The service was beautiful. Primroses in Black Mountain, NC

Tomahawk Lake in Black Mountain - There is a beautiful park in Black Mountain. And around the lake is a walking path. And at one point is a garden about 20 ft X 6ft. Dr. John Wilson, 90 years young, has planted primroses for the last 35 years or so.
This is a picture of the primroses before any of the blooms/flowers appear. The time is about 830PM.

This is a flower which has opened up.
This is a flower which is just starting to open. Sometimes it takes about 20 minutes of watching to see one flower to fully open. This is truly one of God's miracles.
It is now about 900PM. Many of the flowers have opened.
This is about 915PM. Tonight 198 flowers opened up. Each morning Dr Wilson removes the flowers and counts them. On May 2 only 1 flower opened up. In mid June a total of 500 flowers opened. About 30 people were watching the show on this Wednesday night. Annie Roper is a friend of the Wilsons. When in Black Mountain, go to the primrose show. It is quite a show.

Worship and Music Conference, Montreat 2010

This year's Worship and Music Conference was outstanding. I think it is the best of all that I have attended. The choir director was superb - such energy and dedication. We learned a lot. And the Bible Story Teller was most amazing. I was a part of the story teller's presentation on Wednesday. The story was the stoning of Stephen. It came alive to the congregation.

And the best part of all was that we shared the Georgia Lodge with another church. The folks from Fairview Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville, GA were wonderful folks. We got along like Christians should get along . Now isn't that amazing. What a week. Thanks be to God!!!!
The boat house on Lake Susan - with the wonderful weather, lots of folks took canoes and paddle boats out on the lake.
This is Assembly Inn on the hill overlooking Lake Susan.
Gene and Nancy Lassiter at our first worshiip service. Gene was the pastor at Second Presbyterain Church for about 13 years. I sat with them for 3 of the services.
The teenagers from Second and Fairview became best buddies almost immediately. They played games, went to putt putt, and had frisbee contest at all times of the night.
On Wednesday night we went to "My Father's Pizza". Here you see Stacie, Brooke, Marian, David, Taylor, Beth, Mary, and Annie.
Jane, Alex and Taylor wait for our table and some good pizza.
This is the picture of the magnificent 16. The guy with the blue shirt and the one with the ball cap jumped into the picture and included themselves.
This is the Fairview Presbyterian church crowd. They are Stacie, Mary, Brooke, Marian, Beth, Clayton and Alex. Alex just completed his first year at Columbia Seminary.
And this is the Second Presbyterian Church bunch. We are John, Sandra, Taylor, Jane, Alex, Grayson, D.J., Annie, and David.
What a super group of young people!!!
Daughter Aletha joined mom for pizza on Wednesday night.
